18 Nov Maximum Security for Euro 2024

Pilomat Road Blocker Mobile at UEFA EURO 2024 in Stuttgart Road Blocker Mobile by Pilomat is a modular, secure, and versatile system designed to protect areas designated for public events from unauthorized vehicle access. It was successfully deployed during Euro 2024. The recent UEFA European Football Championship took place without any significant public order issues. The eventโ€™s flawless organization ensured maximum security for teams, delegations, UEFA staff, supporters and tourists, journalists, local residents, and law enforcement personnel across the many cities hosting the matches. Part of this success can be attributed to Pilomat, the Italian company that provided several temporary traffic deterrence devices used in urban centers and near stadiums to restrict vehicle access in controlled zones. These included the RBM Road Blocker Mobile models, which are innovative solutions that require no ground anchoring. The RBM mobile road blockers were deployed in Stuttgart during match days. In the morning the RBMs were lowered, allowing authorized vehicles (such as those belonging to residents, transport services, and businesses) to access the secured areas. The blockers were raised in the afternoon, closing the access and restricting entry to pedestrians, bicycles, and emergency vehicles only. The Pilomat Road Blockers Mobile proved to be the ideal solution for securing squares and areas dedicated to temporary events with significant foot traffic. RBM units are simply placed on the ground, allowing safe passage for pedestrians, individuals with mobility aids or wheelchairs, and vehicles when the blocker is lowered. When the mobile blocking element is raised, vehicle access is prevented. Despite being the smallest configuration of its kind currently on the market, the robust structure of the RBM and its anchoring system prevent it from being moved from its installation point, even when pushed by a vehicle. This makes it possible to secure access points without requiring constant supervision. With Road Blocker Mobile, Pilomat aimed to ensure maximum security with the smallest modular configuration. Among the many crash tests performed, the one for ISO 22343-1:2023 certification best highlights RBMโ€™s exceptional resistance features. Our road blocker was tested in a configuration consisting of two side modules with mobile blocking elements and one central pedestrian module. It successfully stopped a 7.5-ton truck moving at 50 km/h. This is a benchmark result for the safety and resilience of public spaces. Versatile and Modular Access Control To address this challenge, Pilomat designed and installed three different types of bollards, each with specific characteristics tailored to the functional and security needs of the project: The new Road Blocker Mobile RBM by Pilomat is designed to temporarily protect streets, squares, and outdoor event areas. It features a raised, drive-over platform with ramps on both ends and a central mobile blocking element that can be manually raised or lowered as needed to allow or prevent vehicle access. The modular system allows multiple modules with mobile blocking elements to be connected, forming barriers of any desired length. It also supports the addition of blind pedestrian modules, offering a versatile and customizable concept that can also integrate with Oktablock. Easily installable on any road or pedestrian surface, each module can be assembled in just 20 minutes without the need for civil works. The mobile blocking element is manually operated using an integrated handle, and optional side ramps are available to facilitate vehicle access onto and off the platform. 01 Dec Pilomat solutions against ram-raids

Protecting shops and commercial activities: Pilomat security bollards as a defense against ram-raids In the urban landscape, shops and commercial activities are often exposed to various risks, including the danger of car-ramming attacks. These attacks consist of using vehicles as tools to break through the walls or windows of buildings, causing enormous damage and putting people's safety at risk. To counter this type of threat and protect shops and commercial activities, various safety devices have been developed, including traffic bollards. These devices, also known as Pilomat, are structures placed near entrances or along roads which have the task of preventing unauthorized access or slowing down the speed of vehicles. Highlighted in the video is the automatic hydraulic bollard 275/P-600A from the Safety Line How do traffic bollards work? Traffic bollards are designed to provide a physical barrier against unauthorized vehicles. They can be installed in different shapes and sizes, from fixed pillars to retractable elements controlled by remote control or automated systems. These devices are made of sturdy materials such as stainless steel or other high-strength materials. They are designed to resist collisions and impacts, making it difficult or impossible for a vehicle to penetrate through them. Benefits of traffic bollards for the safety of commercial establishments Preventing car-ram attacks: Traffic bollards prevent vehicles from reaching the speed necessary to be used as collision weapons. Protection of people and property: They reduce the risk of structural damage and injury to people inside or near commercial establishments. Access Control: They can be used to regulate vehicular access by allowing only authorized vehicles to enter certain areas. Versatility in installation: Traffic bollards can be installed in different environments, such as streets, car parks or building accesses. Considerations in the selection and installation of traffic bollards Security requirements: Ensure that bollards comply with safety standards and can withstand vehicle impacts. Design and integration: Integrate the bollards into the surrounding environment without compromising the aesthetics or functionality of the area. Maintenance and Operation: Ensure proper maintenance of devices to ensure they are always operational and ready for use in the event of an emergency. Local regulations: Comply with local laws and regulations regarding the installation of road safety devices. Traffic bollards are an effective option for protecting shops and businesses from the threat of car rammers. Their strategic installation can help prevent attacks, ensure people's safety and preserve property. However, it is essential to carefully consider various factors, including technical aspects, regulations and specific needs of the area in which they are installed, to ensure effective protection and correct integration into the urban context. ...
